In the Spring of 2009, the Brooklyn Heights Association and the Department of Parks and Recreation formed a Public Private Partnership to be called the Promenade Garden Conservancy. Its mission was to halt and reverse the deterioration of one of the City’s most precious green sites: the 1/3 mile-long garden that borders the much-visited Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Soon a new and essential objective emerged: the formation of a robust corps of volunteers to work under the supervision of a professional gardener. While maintaining and continuously improving the garden, their participation energizes the community spirit of our historic neighborhood, demonstrating that our best Partnership is the one we share with nature.
